An internet connection on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC is required in order to play Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. In the future, it’s possible that other games in The Division series may offer offline play, but as of the time of this writing, games like Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 cannot be played offline. For PC players, make sure your computer is connected to the internet before launching the game. Instead, you’ll simply need a subscription to Xbox Live Gold on Xbox One or PlayStation Plus on PlayStation 4. You’re not required to matchmake with other players if you don’t want to, even though the game subtlety encourages co-op play. Some also have specific challenges in certain matches, such as never jumping during a match, or using 10. That said, just because The Division 2 requires an internet connection doesn’t mean you can’t do things like play through the campaign solo or do a bit of solo exploration. In most cases, you can play as any character you wish. Regardless of how you choose to enjoy Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, all aspects of the game require an internet connection thanks to its “always online” setup. Even if you ignore the multitude of PvP and PvE elements available in The Division 2, the official answer as to whether the game can be played offline is no, it cannot.
